PackTrak- a Green Technology

Packtrak is an innovative, green technology that is used in packaging, material handling, converting and assembly machines.  It is a reusable and recyclable technology that improves the energy efficiency of electric motor drive systems by eliminating mechanical transmission, such as chains, belts and gears.

According to the Dept. of Energy, electric motor driven systems used in industrial facilities account for 23% of all electricity sold in the USA.

Packtrak is a direct-drive, linear motor system that through the elimination of chains, belts and gears will use 30% less electricity than a conventional electric motor driven machine.

But there's more to Jacobs Automation's commitment to Green Automation, Packtrak will help customers accomplish goals such as:

• Smaller production floor foot-print

• Reusable and Recyclable Technology-Packtrak is a series of linear drive segments that can be reconfigured or scaled to fit new and existing applications.

• Reduction in landfill from waste product generated during product changeover- Product changeovers are made easily through software, rather than wasteful and tedious hardware changeovers.

• Less consumption of petroleum based lubricants-elimination of mechanical transmission means elimination of lubricants.
